With (items and enemies are seen through walls), I searched the web to find out if someone had done a PC Since the game doesn't seem to work very well on the emulators I tried it Alas, after getting my console from storage and setting it up, I found out This past month of August, I was feeling like replaying the Nintendo 64 version of Quake 2, mainlyīecause I couldn't remember any of the game's maps apart from them being completely differentįrom the PC version. Obviously I cant distribute the original OST, but if you do own it, the track numbers used are the ones listed here: Either use a CD or replace the music files in your sourceport. The console rendition of the game does not have an inventory, so if you want the closest experience, activate every item as soon as you pick them up x) None of the level intermission screens were included. Scrolling textures are much less versatile in the PC version, these were not included.Īll custom textures from the N64 version were replaced by the closest match from the default PC textures. PC Quake 2 has no invisibility power up, it was replaced by the power shield.Į1M2 -Ğxplosive charge item doesnt exist, was replaced with the Airstrike marker. This means that this is not a 100% faithful experience to the N64 version, however it is pretty close.Į1M1 - The starting room is a bit uglier than it should be.

The only new content in this pak are the maps, there are no new items or textures.

Two multiplayer maps are included as well, War Room and Corridors. This content can also be found at ModDB here: In fact I think I'll load that bad boy up right now.The first planet (4 maps) from the Nintendo 64 version of Quake 2 ported to PC (also the hub system was removed if anyone actually cares) The only map that even resembles the original q2 singleplayer was base3, however it had a different exit and the satallites do not move. However you gotta understand that most of the single player maps were remakes of Rogue and Xatrix maps. I'd love to see a version of twists and some of the single player maps (like the elevator ride to the core of planet Strogg) turned into a deathmatch.

It's actually one of my favorite deathmatches, my friends and I will meet for quake2 64 matches every so often, however most of the maps probably would not work well in pc version. Also the BFG functioned quite differently (with a really cool lightning effect) and all the other weapons were slowed down to balance them. Remember that Q2 64 deathmatch did not have water, ducking, or double jumps but it did have an invisibility. The rest wouldn't really work well on hte PC version. Twists was a great map, it was similar to the edge except the best part was that it didn't suck.
